Yuvabharathi Conducts Coimbatore's First Stem-based Carnival

Yuvabharathi Public School conducted NuTopia, "A Hub For Cyber Geeks!", a district-level interschool competition on the 22nd and 23rd of July 2022 at Yuva Enclave Coimbatore. The USP of NuTopia is that it is a tech-powered STEM carnival organised and conducted by Yuvabharathi students. Knowledge, Creativity and Skills of the cyber age are put to the test and honoured by this unique event. Season 2 of NuTopia - 2022 had eight STEAM-based events - ranging from debugging to blogging, gaming to debating and digital designing to composing music (Season 1 of Nutopia was conducted as an intraschool edition owing to COVID -19). Around 300 students from 10 schools registered for the same and participated enthusiastically.

Ms. Geetha Jayachandran, the Principal, welcomed the gathering in the opening ceremony on the 22nd of July. Dr. Prashant R.Nair, Vice-Chairman, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, presided as the Chief Guest and delivered a speech on staying ahead of the curve by acquiring Multiskills, collaboration skills and risk-taking abilities. The school's rock band, the Abyss, gave the event a head start with a thrilling performance.

All the events were conducted and moderated by the students of Yuvabharathi and had judges from the respective niches adjudge the winners. All the events were completed on day two, and the results were declared during the closing ceremony. Mr. Anand Jeyasingh, Head of the Department of Mass Media Studies at Yuvabharathi, thanked the participating schools for the overwhelming response to the first ever school-level STEM carnival conducted in Coimbatore. Dr K.Aravindhan, Convenor, SNSCE IIC & Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SNS College of Engineering, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and gave a talk on Design Thinking and Innovation. Dr.Aravindhan gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners, and the PSBB Millennium School, Coimbatore, lifted the Overall Champions Trophy of Nutopia Season 2.
