CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH THE UNDERPRIVILEGED

Yuvabharathi's senior secondary students visited the Coimbatore Don Bosco Anbu Illam Social Service Society, a non-governmental organisation working for the rehabilitation of street and working children in the Coimbatore district, on 16.12.2023. Celebrating the spirit of Christmas, the students gifted chocolates and stationery to the residents of Anbu Illam and filled their hearts with love and unbound joy.

POVERTY SOLUTIONS FOR SDG 1: END POVERTY IN ALL ITS FORMS EVERYWHERE

Yuvabharathi has actively supported Shanti Ashram's 'Poverty Solutions' since 2012. This year as well, Yuvabharathians have endorsed the initiative by purchasing piggy banks and filling them with savings or pocket money. The contributions made through these piggy banks are used to provide scholarships to underprivileged children, set up food banks, run nutritional literacy programmes, and the like. On 24.11.2023, volunteers from Shanti Ashram collected the amount our children saved via Piggy Banks. By making this gesture, the students are urged to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 1, which is to put an end to poverty in all its forms everywhere.

Drug Abuse Awareness Rally & Street Play

Since the use of synthetic drugs is reported to have increased among rural youth in recent years, Yuvabharathi Public School held a rally on 28.10.2023 to create awareness among the public and sensitise them about the ill effects of using drugs. Around 135 students from grade 10 participated in the rally by shouting slogans against the use of drugs and substances.

A riveting Veedhinaadagam (street play) was staged by a troupe of grade 9 students depicting the ill effects of drug abuse at the Kanuvai junction, where about 750 people had gathered to board the buses. The students distributed pamphlets to the public to emphasise the ill effects of drugs on physical health, mental health and the economic effect of drug abuse.

Poverty Solutions and Food Bank

Yuvabharathi has supported Shanti Ashram's 'Poverty Solutions' and 'Food Bank' programmes as part of the outreach programme since 2012. Yuvabharathi observed the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty(IDEP) 2023 by joining hands with Shanti Ashram to fight against Child Poverty. The parents, students and staff donated food, grains and other supplies to support the mission of ending child poverty.

Tree saplings drive

Our grade 9 students received tree saplings from Rotary Club Coimbatore Cotton City to be planted in their neighbourhoods (04.08.2023)

Blood Donation Camp

Yuvabharathi Public School has been conducting a Blood Donation Camp since 2014 in commemoration of our martyrs who paved the way for our freedom. This student-led initiative that was started to save the lives of accident victims saw its 8th iteration on 15.08.2023.

Environmental Awareness Programme

Yuvabharathi students rendered their service for the cleaning and maintenance of Marudhamalai Foothill's Parking lot (located opposite Law College) as a part of our SEWA (Social Empowerment through Work Education & Action) schedule. The activity took place on 15.07.2023 with 124 students (Grade 12) and six teachers from our school participating in the same.
