Yuvabharathi celebrates Sgraffito 2024

Sgraffito 2024, Yuvabharathi Public School's signature art exhibition, was held on the school premises on the 1st and 2nd of February 2024. The art expo was inaugurated by Mr.Sanjeev Anand, the correspondent, in the presence of Ms.Geetha Jayachandran, the principal and Ms.Meenakshi Vaidyanathan, the Advisor.

Sgraffito showcased multifarious expressions of art, highlighting the creativity of students from Grades 6 to 10. It had pen drawings and pencil shading that unveiled the world of fine lines. The exhibition also had a collection of vibrant Alla Prima paintings and traditional Indian art forms like Kurumba, Gond, Kalamkari and Madhubani.

The beautiful composition of watercolour and the use of palette knives showcased the students’ intriguing experimentation. The paper mache creations and the string art that combined geometric precision with radiant threads served as a visual treat. The exhibition included artworks by various art movements like Naturalism, Impressionism and Pointillism. The shadow art was the showstopper as one of the shadows projected Harry Potter. There was a resplendent display of embroidery, functional placemats, knots and patterns of macrame wall hanging and the fusion of silk thread jewellery pieces that revealed the students' diverse creations, each with a personal touch.

The Handicraft Club’s display had mesmerising resin art bookmarks and coasters. The butterfly wall hangings and nameplates reflected the students’ attention to detail.

Mr. Antoni Joseph, the Head of the Department of Art, observed that the children's inquisitiveness brought out their best. The joy of expressing creativity was evident in each piece showcased.
