MovieZen Chapter 2, a national-level interschool short film contest, was organised by the Department of Mass Media Studies in collaboration with the DJ Academy of Design, Coimbatore, and UYIR, the Road Safety movement. MovieZen chose Road Safety as the theme of this national-level interschool short film contest for students from grades 8 to 12.
MovieZen 2 received 42 registrations from many schools across the nation, including Panchayat Union Middle School, Corporation Schools, and Government Schools. The finale of the event was conducted on December 14, 2023, at the school auditorium in the presence of Mr.M.Rajarajan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Coimbatore City Police, who presided as the Chief Guest, Mr.C.Anand, Chairman and Ms. Geetha Jayachandran, Principal of Yuvabharathi Public School. Mr. Rajarajan addressed the audience regarding awareness of road safety and commended the school for selecting Road Safety as the theme of the short film contest. During the event, V.H. Ezhil Oviya presented an ode to movies, and R. Mohamed Shafiq captivated the audience with an intriguing movie-related quiz. Adwaith Thought Academy, Coimbatore, emerged as the winner, and Shri Nehru Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, finished as the first runner-up. CS Academy, Coimbatore, and Corporation Middle School, Cheranmanagar, Coimbatore, were declared the second runner-up.
The Chief Guest, the Chairman and the Principal felicitated the winners and honoured them with prizes. Mr. Anand Jeyasingh and Mr. Vinish Kumar, Moviezen's teacher mentors, thanked all the schools that extended support to MovieZen 2 with their enthusiastic participation.
