Yuvabharathi's 8th Cross Country Race

Yuvabharathi Public School conducted its 8th Cross Country Race to raise awareness among students and the public about protecting the decreasing numbers of wildlife species across the globe. World Wildlife Conservation Day is observed on December 4th every year to raise awareness about protecting endangered flora and fauna.

On November 30th 2024, nearly 500 harriers, including students from Grades 4 to 12 and parents, participated in the cross country race in the 3 km, 5 km, and 7 km categories. Mr. N. Jayaraj IFS, District Forest Officer, Coimbatore Division, flagged off the Cross Country Race in the presence of Mr. V. Thirumurugan, Range Officer, Coimbatore Range, Mr. G. Vijay Kumar, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Coimbatore Division, Mr. Sathish Ramamoorthy, Founder -TREE (Trust for Environment and Ecosystem) NGO, and Ms. Geetha Jayachandran, the Principal. The harriers started their race on open-air courses from Madathur, Dhaliyur and Pannimadai. During the prize distribution ceremony, the Principal honoured the winners in all the categories with medals and certificates. All the finishers were awarded medals. This cross country race will inspire students and spread awareness among the public to practise sustainable lifestyles for conserving wildlife and its habitats.
