Yuvabharathi Public School held its fifth edition of the Model United Nations, YBMUN V, on August 23rd and 24th, 2025. With 12 committees and 437 delegates from 22 schools in Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Karur. The conference discussed various topics centred around the theme "Peace in the Digital Age."
This two-day student-led conference began with an Opening Ceremony, where Mr. Sidhaanth Dharmadheeran, the Keynote Speaker, Ms. Nehaarika Sanjeev, a Member of the Management, and Principal Ms. Geetha Jayachandran lit the lamp and inaugurated the event. The gathering was warmly greeted with a welcome address by S. K. Ajay Jagath, the School Prefect and YBMUN V's USG of IT. The Principal, in her address, highlighted the significance of Model United Nations as a platform for students to develop leadership and 21st-century skills based on the theme of YBMUN V. A noteworthy highlight of the ceremony was the Leadership Forum with Mr. K. Annamalai, who inspired the young delegates through his insights. He emphasised that representing a country in a Model United Nations forum means realising that a single problem rarely has a single solution. He elaborated on the importance of ethical leadership in the era of AI and outlined the ethical leadership dilemmas for the younger generation to ponder. He answered the questions posed by students, inspiring them to lead with clarity and decisiveness. The session was followed by an engaging Keynote Address by Mr. Sidhaanth Dharmadheeran, Founder of Ashwa Education. He expounded that engaging diligently in MUN not only sharpened his debating and leadership skills but also changed the way he perceived various aspects of life. The screening of the YBMUN Chapter V trailer provided a glimpse into the committees, which was followed by an address from the Secretary-General, S.A. Kavya. The opening ceremony left the delegates inspired and eager to embark on two days of constructive debate, diplomacy and collaboration to find the common ground and resolve global issues. The first day ended with the socials and the second day culminated with the closing ceremony, graced by Yuvabharathi's alumni, Dr. R. V. Tharun Kumar and Mr. Suraj Narayanan, both prominent MUN participants during their school days. The chairpersons of various committees presented the awards to the delegates of their respective committees. The PSBB Millennium School, Coimbatore, received the Best Impact Delegation Award, while Yuvabharathi Public School clinched the Best Delegation - Leadership in Diplomacy Award.
