Navigating Careers - Workshop for parents and students on Careers

To gauge student interests, the Guidance and Counseling Department of Yuvabharathi Public School administered a standardised diagnostic test on students across all sections of grade 10. Ms. Latha Jayaraman, Career Counsellor, conducted a workshop for the parents of grade 10 students on the 12th of December, 2025 on :

• Guidance on interpreting standardised diagnostic test that identifies students' interests and helps them choose their career
• Awareness of major career programmes across all streams
• Future prospects vs current trends in careers and the need to build skills

Parents were given a copy of their ward’s report and provided with explanations and interpretations. They also received a concise synopsis of the many academic programmes offered by the school, along with potential career paths within each programme. Through activities, students and parents were taken through the actual scenario of careers using data and survey reports to present the changing trend of careers.

Ms. Latha explained the impact of interference of AI, the kind of jobs AI has replaced, newer jobs that have entered the job market, and the skills required based on the report presented by the World Economic Forum. She emphasised the importance of building skills to be on par with the changing trends of the future.
