Shabesa K.A., Class of 2022, currently an Engineering Undergrad at Carleton University, Canada, shared his experiences and insights about pursuing engineering studies abroad for students in grades 12A1 and 12A2 on the 23rd of July 2024.
Shabesa emphasised that the students should look for programmes that align with their career goals and offer specializations in areas of interest. He also discussed the resources available, such as research facilities and internship opportunities. In the interactive session that followed, he provided a detailed walkthrough of the application process, highlighting the key steps like research and preparation, standardized tests, transcripts and recommendations, Statement of Purpose, interviews and additional requirements. Regarding the financial aspects, he encouraged students to explore scholarships, grants, and assistantships offered by universities and external organizations. He suggested engaging with student support services, participating in campus activities, and building a network of peers.
